On 16 May 2026, ETO FC played an away match in Kisvárda, nearly 400 kilometres from Győr, yet in an atmosphere that felt like home. The task for Balázs Borbély’s side was simple: win against Kisvárda. Victory would mean one thing – the league title.

ETO lined up with Petrás – Bíró, Krpić, Miangue, Stefulj – Tóth, Vitális, Gavrić – Schön, Benbouali, Njie. The opening minutes belonged to goalkeeper Péter Petrás, who produced two outstanding saves to keep his team level.

In the 10th minute, the early tension turned into celebration. After a well-worked move on the left between Stefulj and Schön, the latter delivered a perfectly timed and measured cross from the byline, which Benbouali converted clinically from close range.

In the 16th minute, Schön nearly scored himself after a fine solo run, but the home goalkeeper made the save. Kisvárda responded in the 20th minute, but Petrás once again stood firm. In the 32nd minute, Benbouali had another chance to double the lead after a Krpić run and header, but Popović held on.

The second half again started with a Petrás save, this time from a well-struck free kick by Soltész. In the 64th minute, Njie came close with a stylish 20-metre effort that rattled the crossbar. A minute later, Schön broke through one-on-one, but his lifted finish was denied by a brilliant save from Popović.

In the 73rd minute, Vitális delivered a corner that was met by Pxshchur, and the rebound was struck over by Stedulj. No further goals were scored, and after 93 minutes the referee brought the match to a close.

What followed was the essence of football: nearly 1,000 travelling Győr supporters flooded the pitch in Kisvárda, and an endless celebration began.

The festivities peaked on Sunday at the ETO Stadium, where the official medal and trophy ceremony took place in front of a large crowd. The atmosphere was electric, filled with smiling, emotional, and ecstatic faces across the stands. After 13 years, ETO FC were champions once again – an unforgettable and almost indescribable moment for everyone involved.

The journey continues in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
