Japanese Midfielder Becomes Our Women’s Team’s First Summer Signing
Our women’s first-team squad, competing in the top division, has been strengthened by the arrival of 20-year-old Japanese midfielder Sena Fukumoto. The young player previously spent time with German club Bayer Leverkusen and now joins us in Győr from LASK Linz.
Sena Fukumoto began playing football at the age of ten at one of Japan’s leading academies. During the eight years she spent in her home country, she became immersed in the Japanese footballing culture, which is primarily based on short passing and a less physical style of play.
At the age of 18, she moved to Europe and joined renowned German side Bayer Leverkusen. She was part of the club’s second team, making 25 appearances.
In the winter of 2025, she signed for Austrian top-flight club LASK Linz, where she quickly established herself as a key player. She played every minute of every match for the team during the 2025/26 season.
Primarily deployed as a defensive midfielder, Fukumoto will be a major addition to ETO. Her technical ability and stamina will make her a valuable asset as the team works towards achieving its objectives.
Sena Fukumoto: “I have joined a very professional, friendly and welcoming environment. My teammates and the members of the coaching staff have all helped me a lot with settling in. I will do everything I can to help us compete for the league title and contribute with goals and strong performances. Hajrá, ETO!”
