Szabolcs Schön signs permanently for ETO FC after successful loan spell
In September 2025, Szabolcs Schön joined Győr on loan from English third-tier side Bolton Wanderers. The winger arrived with a purchase option, which ETO FC has since exercised, securing his permanent transfer. Schön, who has also earned a recall to the Hungarian national team, will continue his career in Győr as an ETO player.
Szabolcs Schön was used in several positions by head coach Balázs Borbély during the autumn season, featuring both on the left and right wing, and also filling in at left-back in place of Dániel Stefulj. By November, he had already become a regular starter, contributing both goals and assists.
THis performances were first recognised by the club’s supporters, who voted him Player of the Month for February. His form also caught the attention of Hungary head coach Marco Rossi. He was given playing time in all March international fixtures and even scored the winning goal against Slovenia on March 28.
In the final three matches of the season, he played a key role in ETO FC’s fifth league title, recording two goals and two assists in those games alone. Across the entire campaign, he registered six goals and three assists in the league.
His pace and agility are expected to remain valuable assets for the team going forward. Szabolcs Schön has signed a contract with the club until 2028. We wish him continued success as a champion with ETO FC.
